5 THINGS TO REMEMBER IN ENGLAND!
Please and thank you.
Yes, it is a stereotype that the British are dramatically polite. However, it is very true. People also say sorry an awful lot for things that really don’t need excusing. Be prepared with your manors!
Paying for drinks
Unlike here in Spain, you pay for your drinks as you order them in England usually. Having a tab open is much less common unless you specifically ask for it. Make sure you don’t walk off with your drink without paying straight away, or you may have an awkward encounter with security.
Mealtimes
In England, you may be surprised to find out that dinner time is usually between 5-7 pm. Most Spaniards find that this time is very early compared to their normal eating routine – so you might want to bring some midnight snacks in case you get hungry later on.
Fish and chips!
Try some of the British cuisine, fish and chips (with lots of salt and vinegar), a Sunday roast dinner, a full English breakfast … These are not the healthiest options but I can promise that they are delicious.
‘Cuppa’
Also known as the very British ‘cup of tea’. Every problem can be solved by popping the kettle on and making a cup of tea. No situation is unable to be sorted by a good cup of tea.
